Second Vice Chair – Sabrina Ashjian

The Second Vice Chair is the ranking officer of the Central Committee in the absence or inability of the Chair and First Vice Chair to act.


Sabrina has extensive public policy, strategic planning, environmental, regulatory, and legislative experience. She currently teaches and serves as project director of the California Environmental Legislation & Policy Clinic at the Emmett Institute on Climate Change & the Environment at UCLA School of Law. She previously taught and supervised the environmental law clinic at UC Berkeley School of Law. Prior to that she advanced animal welfare legislation. She spent nearly a decade in the courtroom as a consumer fraud & environmental protection prosecutor and public defender.

She has been appointed by two governors to serve the State of California, first by Governor Brown for the Cannabis Control Appeals Board, and most recently by Governor Newsom for the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board.

In addition to this service she sits on numerous nonprofit boards in the spaces of environmental protection, increased representation in elected office, and disaster relief. She is the President of the National Women’s Political Caucus of California, Vice President of California Women Lead, and Vice Chair of the American Red Cross Pacific Coast Region.

In the legal sector, she serves on the American Bar Association as the Vice Chair of the Environmental Justice Committee and Co-Chair of the Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) SDF Coordination Committee. She is also an American Bar Foundation Fellow.

She holds masters degrees in law, business, and journalism. She is licensed to practice law in CA, NY, and the US Supreme Court.

She is available for strategy development, speaking engagements, conducting trainings, and consulting in the areas of:
