Oak Park, CA – The California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee has endorsed Marie Panec, Democrat, for the U.S. Congress, in CA-24.

CNA/NNOC is a professional association that represents 86,000 registered nurses throughout the nation.

In announcing the endorsement, Malinda Markowitz RN, co-president of the organization, said, “We are impressed with Marie Panec’s depth of experience and devoted service to the community. She’s got true character and compassion. We trust her.”

Markowitz went on to say, “The scope of Marie’s work in education, as both a college professor and a School Boardmember, sets her apart. Marie is a public servant whose focus on creating opportunities is unrelenting.

We share Marie’s values based vision of treating healthcare as a right and making it available to all. We believe that Marie will do an excellent job in representing California’s 24th District on education, health, labor, environmental and women’s issues.”

In response, Marie said “I am thrilled to be endorsed by the California Nurses. CNA has been unwavering in enhancing the collective voices of RNs in the patient care decision and fighting for innovative laws and regulatory protections for patients and nurses. Their tenacious leadership on single payer healthcare is well known. Providing universal access to healthcare is not only consistent with American values, it is just plain common sense.”

This ringing endorsement by the influential California Nurses expands the growing coalition of educators, community leaders and students who are coming together behind Marie Panec in the June 8 Democratic primary election.
